Product Questions


Where can I find the dimensions of the furniture?

Width, height and depth of each model are displayed on our product web pages. More detailed dimensions can be found on product brochures, downloadable from product webpages. Please remember that all sizes are approximate and are within a tolerance of +/- 3cm.

Where can I see this piece?

Each of our product webpages features a ‘Find This Product Near You’ button. Click on this button and enter your postcode to find out where you can view a specific piece. We display our full range at our factory showroom, so if your nearest stockist does not display the piece you are interested in, you are welcome to visit our showroom. Please get in touch to arrange your appointment.

Do you have a brochure?

Each of our models has a product card which can be downloaded as a PDF from our website product pages. Each product card includes full dimensions and specifications.

Can I choose the colour of legs on my furniture?

Yes, we have four standard leg finishes: Antique Oak, Blackened Oak, Distressed Oak, Grey Wash and Piano Black. You can view these finishes on our fabric webpage. We also offer painted leg finishes, either using your own paint or you can specify a Dulux paint colour. Painted leg finishes incur a surcharge.

What do I do if I have an issue with my furniture?

We hope that will be happy with your John Sankey furniture for many years to come. In the unlikely event that you find an issue with your sofa or chair please contact the stockist or designer who you purchased the piece from. The stockist or designer will first investigate the issue and will then work with John Sankey to try to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.


Specification Changes


Can you make adaptations to help with access issues?

Most of our models can be made with removable legs to help with access issues. As some models have legs that are integral to the wooden frame, the frame must be redesigned to accommodate removable legs and therefore there is a surcharge for removable legs on some models.

Do I have to have castors on the furniture?

Some of our models come with castors as standard however these can be removed and the legs extended in place of the castor free of charge. Please specify if you would like castors removing when placing your order.

Can I change the seat cushion filling?

We select cushion fills to complement the unique spring system used in your upholstery. We can provide alternative seat cushion fillings for a surcharge, but please bear in mind these may change the sit and look of the sofa. If you would like to change your cushion filling please discuss this with your John Sankey stockist or designer.




Do you supply fabric samples?

Yes, visit our Get in Touch page to order your free samples. We politely request that you do not order more than 10 fabric samples per customer.

Can I supply my own fabric?

Yes, as well as our own range of velvets, flat weaves, leathers and wools we also welcome customer’s own material as long as it is suitable for upholstery and passes relevant UK Fire Regulations.

Can I buy John Sankey fabrics separately?

Yes most of our fabrics can be purchased by the metre. Please contact your nearest John Sankey stockist or interior design partner for a quote.

Can I use more than one fabric on my furniture?

Yes of course. We encourage customers to make pieces their own using unique combinations of fabric. Every piece is made to order so we can tailor it to suit your style.


Buying John Sankey Furniture


How do I get a quote for John Sankey furniture?

A price for any of our products can be given to you by one of our stockists or interior design partners. Prices vary by the fabric used on your piece, however if you are unsure of fabric choice at the moment, the stockist or designer will be able to give you a ‘from price’. Visit our stockist locator to find your nearest stockist.

Can I buy furniture from John Sankey directly?

John Sankey supplies boutique furniture stores and interior designers across the UK and internationally but does not sell directly to the public. Visit our stockist locator to find your nearest John Sankey stockist. Alternatively our factory showroom in Long Eaton, Derbyshire is open to the public by appointment. During your appointment our showroom manager will guide you through a variety of styles and comforts, to ensure that you find the perfect piece for you and your home. We will then contact your nearest John Sankey stockist who will get in touch with a quote and delivery details.

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed through a John Sankey stockist or interior design partner. To find your nearest stockist visit our stockist locator.

Do you offer a design service?

While we are happy to advise on fabric and model choices, either over the phone or at our Derbyshire Showroom, we do not offer a design service. We recommend that anyone who would like additional help with their design scheme works with an interior designer or John Sankey stockist.

Can we visit your showroom?

Yes you are very welcome to visit. Our factory showroom is open by appointment Monday - Friday (10am-3.30pm) and Saturday (10am-1pm). During your visit our showroom manager will guide you through our collection, helping you to find the shapes and fabrics that best suit your home. Our showroom is also open to retailers and interior designers who wish to bring their clients, to arrange your visit please call our office.




Where is John Sankey furniture made?

Our furniture is made at our workshop in Long Eaton, Derbyshire by a talented team of frame builders, cutters, machinists and upholsterers. All of our furniture is checked by our finishing team before leaving the factory.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes we offer a FIRA-endorsed lifetime guarantee for all frames and springs. To activate your guarantee please fill out the lifetime guarantee form on our website within 28 days of receiving your furniture.

Do you re-cover or re-upholster furniture

We do not offer a re-upholstery service, however if you would like to use John Sankey fabric for your re-upholstery, this can be purchased by the metre through a John Sankey stockist or interior designer. If you would like samples of any of our fabrics please get in touch.

How do I take care of my upholstery?
